Why I Coach

“We do not attract what we want, but what we are.” — James Lane Allen

The reason I mentor is because there was a time in my life when I genuinely believed I was not worthy of love. Then, when I least expected it, people showed up for me. They planted their feet in my corner and simply asked that I not give up. I didn’t make it through because I was free of fear or doubt, but because I refused to stop trying.

I grew up in a broken household, struggling to accept myself and find a sense of belonging. Yet, even then, I carried a sense of wonder in my heart and a deep reverence for the world around me. That reverence was a little flame that never fully went out, even beneath the downpour that life brings.

Along the way, I encountered teachers who helped me nurture that love for life and learn to believe in myself. I began my college career training to become an art teacher and eventually graduated with a degree in outdoor education. I became a certified Wilderness First Responder and began leading expeditions into the backcountry. Nature taught me patience, self-reliance, and that I thrive when choices matter.

I have always gravitated toward responsibility and leadership. I believe the best leaders don’t simply lead others; they empower others to become leaders themselves. They help people cultivate healthy self-esteem, compassion, and an unwavering commitment to truth.

My goal as a mentor is to help people discover their sense of purpose and overcome the internal struggles, addictions, and self-sabotaging behaviors that hold them back. I believe that when people learn to accept themselves, take responsibility for their lives, and act in alignment with their values, they become capable of far more than they once imagined.

At the heart of it all, I believe everyone deserves to have someone there for them—someone who sees their potential, believes in them when they struggle to believe in themselves, and reminds them not to give up. Someone once did that for me, and it changed my life.

Now, I’m grateful to do the same for others.
