Mastery Level Mentoring

“As iron sharpens iron, so one person sharpens another.” – Biblical Proverb

In a culture all too often content with mediocrity, the never ending pursuit of excellence is an extremely rare thing. We know it is true that we become like the people with whom we surround ourselves. So if you are someone who is seeking greater forms of mastery, service, and relationship, the question becomes, where are these higher caliber relationships? Who holds a higher standard for you and invites you to the potential you may be too afraid, or complacent to step into yourself? Iron sharpens iron and personal mastery requires another who is also dedicated to this path in their own life. It is for this reason that mastery-level mentoring is a vital ingredient in our pursuit of greatness. If you have put together a life that is functional and even fulfilling, but still have an awareness that there is further evolution still awaiting you, Mastery Level Mentoring might be a good fit for you.

Below are some of the areas Mastery Level Mentoring focuses on:

  • Bringing awareness to the 10 Essential Aspects of your life with a special attention on those underdeveloped areas, seeking to bring a greater balance, harmony, and integration into all these areas of your life.
  • Skillfully holding the increased complexity that arises with advancing personal and professional goals.
  • Navigating the responsibilities of marriage, children, extended family, aging parents, business partnerships, and community involvement; seeking to bring greater clarity, intention, and effective communication to these relationships.
  • Prioritize self-reflection, insight, and self-awareness to empower you with the freedom of choice instead of the reactivity of conditioning.
  • Exploring the shadow and incorporating those dismissed or dissonant parts of yourself, claiming a power and wholeness that can only be found by facing the darkness within.
  • Uncovering and understanding how certain stories you tell yourself, and the thinking distortions you reinforce, limit your potential and keep you trapped in a prison of your own making.
  • Uncovering your personal ethic, the moral imperative of your life, and establishing a long-term vision for your future informed by this ethic.
  • Connecting your days and weeks to this greater vision by breaking your long-term vision down into a one year vision, a 6 month vision, monthly goals, and weekly and daily habits and routines. In this way you can be fully present to your daily responsibilities while staying connected and aligned with the greater direction for your life.
  • Looking closely at the daily habits and routines that do not fully serve you and work to change these habits, replacing them with productive and meaningful ones so that you may become more intentional and conscious in these otherwise conditioned areas of your life.
  • Explore the 4 Modes of Communication, learning to work with focus and attention in ways that will make you a better listener and communicator, strengthening your relationships and deepening your interactions.
  • Explore the stages of development; dependence, independence, and interdependence, and identify where in your life you are still operating in the dependent and interdependent stages and how you may more fully embody the interdependent stage of development.
  • Prioritize how you are serving others with the wisdom and life experience you have already acquired, and finding real and meaningful ways to contribute to the people and the world around you.
  • Ultimately we will explore your relationship to that which is bigger than you, call it life, God, or The Mystery. The fundamental intention of mastery-level mentoring is to seek the greater purpose you are meant to serve in the world, and begin orienting your life towards this purpose.

What Mastery Level Mentoring is and what it is not

  • It requires that you find your own truth and your own answers. It is not about receiving advice and consolation. The mentor does not hold the answers to your life. Instead this is a collaborative endeavor where the answers you need are found within you by using the coherence and intention of the mentoring relationship.
  • It is an active process that requires your full engagement. You will not unlock the benefit of this opportunity if you simply show up for a session once a week and not endeavor to practice and apply this work outside of the sessions in your own life.
  • It is about transformation and mastery in your life. It is not about superficial change. Surface level change can easily be made in a day or a week and is more easily lost in an hour or a moment. This is not the kind of change we are pursuing. Instead we are working much deeper, engaging in the ongoing process of lasting transformation.
